Father

Our subject for this week is amazing. We talked about Fathers and Finances, and I think both are really important in my life. I grew up in Sao Paulo, which is one of the biggest cities in the world, and we all hear all the time that we have a lot of opportunities down there, and that Sao Paulo is the right place to be successful, but I`ll try to tell my father history in order to show how this can be true. My father was born in 1958, and at that time, his father just left his mother, so the only family he had was his mother and older brother. They were really poor, so they all learned how to work with less than ten years old. My father told me few months ago, that it was hard to grow up without his father and getting the advices that a father should give to his children. However, he told me that his mother was fantastic. That she worked a lot to provide a better life for her children. My father studied a lot when he was young, so he was able to go to university and get a better job, he has this kind of mindset where he knows that we can be successful through his own effort. When I was born, my parents were in a good financial situation, so I went to private schools to get a better education possible, my younger brother as well. I remember one day that the company which my dad worked for just broke suddenly and my father was fired.  That was a hard time for us, he gathers our family and told us that we were going to reduce some costs, and we needed to change for a public school. That was sad for me because I had many friends in my old school. Few days later, I realized that my father did a deal with the school and while we were selling tomatoes to pay for out bills, he used to pay my school with tomatoes. I remember to think that I needed to get good grades because my father who was a financial manager, was now selling tomatoes to keep me and my brother in school. I could not imagine how was difficult to my dad from going from an office to a little car selling tomatoes in restaurants around the city, but he never gave up from trying to give us the best life we could have. Few years later, he returns to work as a financial manager, but we never forgot about that time with tomatoes. Today, I just want to be like my dad. I try to think that I can be my best every day. Not to be better than anyone, but to be my best. I learned that we can be like eagles and fly high, or like chicken who is always in the ground. I also know that in a few months, I am going to be a father as well, and this kind of scares me at the first moment, but I think that all I need to do is to be like my father, and everything will be fine. I know that my heavenly father is always there for me as well and loves us more than we can imagine. He wants to talk with us and answer our prayers, like a lovely father. I know that one day, we will be all reunited again as a huge family, and we will have the opportunity to share all these things that made us grow.
